For years we did our best to serve our community.

We gave away bread….  

We held vacation bible school,,,,

We would pray for the homeless and sometimes even offer a meal

At first we didn't understand that being located in a community 

didn’t mean that we KNEW the community or that we were helping

them beyond the four walls, we began to take a hard look at our ministry.   

We decided that we HAD to do more to make a difference. 

We knew we needed resources, so we tried our hand at grant writing.   

We later would find out that what we wanted to fund, wasn’t even needed in our city.  

 

 

However we didn’t stop there.  We began to connect with other like minded people, who were already serving others and knew what the needs were.  And that’s when everything changed, and we understood that we didn’t just need a grant, we needed “A Solution” . People were looking for help with hunger, homelessness, lack of educational attainment, unemployment and mental health issues that disrupted their daily lives.  They were looking to us for that solution, and before then, we didn’t have one.

So we had to flip the script and build something NEW that would create an impact and get people results. That included FINDing out what the problems and issues were, FIXing some of those problems through structured community programs, and finally getting the FUNDing we needed to operate because we showed that we had a vision, a mission and a purpose to create Kingdom impact.

 

What came next totally blew our minds!  

Suddenly the church grew, the outreach grew and we cracked the code to what seems like a vicious cycle of trying to find other ways to bring people in, how to raise funds, and most importantly, how to care for God’s people like he intended for us to.

>> We went on to grow a $500 outreach budget to a $1.2 million dollar per year outreach engine. 

>> Where we served over 20,000 people in the process, 10x’d our church membership and raised over $9.1 million in grants, funding and services in the span of just 6 years.

6 years that were going to come and go, whether we did something different or not!

But those six years, were our best years and put us on a different level of influence that gained us attention and recognition from the:

US House of Representatives,  Congress,  Senate, US Department of Veterans Affairs, California State Assembly, 7 surrounding cities, 2 counties

and being honored as The Dynamic Duo, Community Champion and Unforgettable Heart award recipients.

COMMUNITY INFUSED FAMILY NIGHTS

As a spin off of a successful vacation bible school, we realized parents we're always able to spend time with their children.  We developed a Family Unity Night program, offering games, dinner and parenting skills.  In addition,

A special initiative for families with children ages 0-5 were provided with backpacks, car seats, booster seats, walking shoes, school uniforms, and food.  They also attended car seat safety classes and participated in family nights promoting family togetherness.

A program that went on to get funded over $40,000 in grants and inkind donations.
